During the wedding, the bride suddenly whispered that something was moving under her dresswe carefully lifted the heavy fabric and saw something terrifying.
The wedding reception was in full swinglaughter, dancing, clinking glasses, and cheers filled the hall. It seemed like the perfect day, the kind you dream about forever. I held the brides hand, sitting beside her as we watched the guests dance.
Then, in the middle of all the joy, she suddenly leaned in and whispered,
*”Theres something moving under my dress.”*
At first, I didnt even register what shed said. I chuckled, thinking it was just one of her jokes to lighten the mood.
*”What, love? Your legs?”* I teased, laughing loud enough that a few guests nearby glanced over.
But my smile faded fast. She stared at me, dead serious, her grip tightening on my hand.
*”Im not joking. Theres something there. Its moving, and Im terrified.”*
I tried to reassure her*”Maybe youre just tired, imagining things”*
*”No.”* She cut me off. *”I can feel it. Its real.”*
I froze, unsure what to do. But in that moment, I knew we had to check. Gently, I helped lift the heavy layers of her dressand what we saw underneath sent a chill down my spine.
Right there, tangled in the tulle and lace, was a small snake. It wasnt aggressivejust lost, probably hitched a ride in with the flowers or while the dress was being prepared.
The bride gasped and jerked back, but I steadied her before she stumbled. Guests noticed the commotion, and a few hurried over.
Just then, the snake, as if realizing it had been spotted, slithered out from under the dress and made a swift escape across the floor toward the exit.
The music stopped. The laughter died. Everyone watched, stunned, as our uninvited guest made its grand exit.
Luckily, one of the guests knew about snakes. He calmed everyone down, explaining it was harmlessjust a little grass snake that had wandered in by accident.
But that didnt stop the bride from trembling for the next hour. She refused to keep celebrating in that dressended up changing into a pair of trousers just to feel safe.
Ever since that day, my wifes had a new habit: checking every corner and eyeing long skirts with deep suspicion.
